Chris Drury Wins 329 Faceoffs In One Night…

December 30, 2007

Chris Drury has amassed a mind boggling 329 faceoff victories in one night on Sunday, a new record. This shattered the previous record of 70 by Montreal Canadiens Center Joseph Henri Richard set in 1973. The Rangers, ironically enough, defeated Richard’s former team by a score of 4-3 thanks to a breakaway goal by Brendan Shanahan in overtime.

Drury was winning faceoffs left and right Sunday night. His concentration and hand-eye coordination was impeccable and surpassed by no one. In addition to the 29 faceoff wins against the Canadiens, Drury was able to win 20 faceoffs in the Flyers/Panthers game, 14 faceoffs in the Kings/Blackhawks game and thus far he was won 16 faceoffs in the Ducks/Canucks game. The Ducks and Canucks are currently in the third period and Drury will surely add to his record total before the night is over.

Amazing enough, Drury’s night of faceoff wins was not finished there. He was able to win various faceoffs around the world. He won the faceoff of Herm Edwards and Eric Mangini at Giants Stadium, he won the faceoff between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, he won the faceoff between National Treasure and Alvin and Chimpmunks at the box office, he won the faceoff between the Jets and the Sharks on the westside, he won the faceoff between many married couples over the country, he won the faceoff between the Writer’s Union and Hollywood studios, he was able to win the faceoff between Doug Funnie and Roger Klautz, he was able to the win the faceoff between oil and vinegar (not even density could stop him), he was able to win the many faceoff between children fighting over the remote the control……he was even able to the the faceoff of “ALIEN VERSUS PREDATOR”

When asked about his unstoppable and historic night, Chris quaintly replied, “I just get into a groove and I get a few bounces my way, that’s it.”

Rangersin08 would like to wish all our loyal readers a happy holiday! Santa Claus swung by the tri-state area last night leaving coal for Chris Simon and the entire New Jersey Devils organization. The other item on my wish list, the Stanley Cup, will have to wait until June. So from all us of here at the Rangersin08 headquarters, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanza and a Happy New Year Year…and heres to a Rangers cup in 2008!

NYR decided to be generous and let you score 5 goals. Be prepared for next time when NYR makes you pay for taking advantage of their generosity.

Rangers in 09???

December 8, 2007

This season is officially a wash. The Rangers have fallen to become the worst team in the NHL. It’s time to give up the dream of winning a cup this season, it’s just not going to happen. Let’s turn the page and look toward the 2008-2009 season. What will the Rangers do finally get over the hump to win the cup? Trade Lundqvist? Fire Sather? Trade of Michael Nylander? Move to the Prudential Center?

Glen Sather shows MLB GM’s how to get things done in Nashville…

December 4, 2007

Nashville, Tennessee. Home of the Grand Ole Oprey, Roy Orbison, The Predators, the 2007 Major League Baseball Winter Meetings and now Glen Sather’s footprint.

Rangers General Manager Glen “the savior” Sather (as dubbed by Steve Sommers) has taken over the Major League Baseball winter meetings. Tired of reading the constant rumors about possible trades, Glenn has flown down to Nashville to make actual trades. Within a span of 24 hours Glen has acquired Twins pitcher Johan Santana, Orioles pitcher Eric Berdard, A’s pitchers Dan Haren and Joe Blanton, Marlins’ pitcher Dontrelle Willis and third baseman Miguel Cabrera, Braves outfielder Andruw Jones, Texas Rangers third baseman Hank Blaylock, Blue Jay’s pitcher A.J. Burnett and Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association franchise. And all Sather gave up were much maligned defenseman Marek Malik and up-and-down defenseman Thomas Pock.

It was reported that teams were looking for a deal that included defenseman Paul Mara; but Sather was unwilling to give up the Most Valuable Mara. “What are you f’ing nuts?” Sather asked teams. In addition, Mara has a full no-trade clause.

When asked how he could get so many players for so little, Sather responded by saying, “THATS HOW I ROLL.” Then he loosened his tie, light up a cigar and got into a limousine with country music sensation Kenny Rogers. It was not known where the duo were heading. It is not known how the Rangers can fit all of these big contracts on the current salary-cap.

Today’s Win

December 1, 2007

After today’s dominating victory over the Ottawa Senators, the Rangers showed they are a force to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference.

At this point there is only 1 question to ask: is NYR great or the greatest???

New (Old) NHL Schedule

November 30, 2007

The NHL owners have voted to go back to the old scheduling format used before the lockout. Teams will now face every team in the league once, while playing their division rivals six times, as opposed to the current format where intra-division teams play each other eight times.

This sucks. I can understand why the west coast teams or expansion teams would want more of a variety in their schedule, they think it will help fill seats. But I could care less about the Rangers playing the Phoenix Coyotes, Columbus Blue Jackets or Nashville Predators. To me, those teams are in a different league. I want to see the extra two games against the Islanders, Devils, Flyers and Penguins. The rivalry between the teams and fans is what makes this league so great. The Atlantic Division and NYR suffers again because of overexpansion.

November 26, 2007

I am not happy with the design change on the Ranger’s website. I don’t even know where the news section is? Is it the budlight sponsored menu? Theres no news on it, it’s just random stuff. And I don’t want beer bringing me news.

Two losses in a row, three losses the islanders this season, and now this horrific web site. This organization is falling apart from every direction.  Thursday game is a must win, this game will make or break the season.  The Rangers need to gain some points in the Hummer Metro Ice Challenge. It is unfair the Islanders are leading this contest because they are so proficient at giving hummers.
